The LMZ12003 demo board can accept an input voltage rail between 4.5V and 20V and deliver an adjustable and highly accurate output voltage as low as 0.8V. The LMZ12003 only requires three external resistors and four external capacitors to complete the power solution. The LMZ12003 is a solution with the following protection features: thermal shutdown, input under-voltage lockout, output overvoltage protection, short-circuit protection, output current limit, and allows startup into a pre-biased output. A single resistor adjusts switching frequency up to 1 MHz.

iPhone alarms hit by New Year glitch

A glitch on Apple's iPhone has stopped its built-in alarm clock going off, leaving many people oversleeping on the first two days of the New Year.

Angry bloggers and tweeters complained that they had been late for work, and were risking missing planes and trains.

Apple has acknowledged the problem and says it will be fixed by 3 January.

The reason has not been given but the glitch appears to affect single alarm settings on the Iphone 4 and earlier models with software updates.

A similar problem hit the iPhone alarm when the clocks went back in November, again causing many users to be late for work or for transport arrangements.

"We're aware of an issue related to non-repeating alarms set for January 1 or 2," Apple spokeswoman Natalie Harrison said in a statement quoted by Macworld.

"Customers can set recurring alarms for those dates and all alarms will work properly beginning January 3."

More than 1.7m people around the world had bought iPhone 4 handsets by June 2010, in what was the company's most successful product launch.

Google TV faces hurdles

Google's foray into Internet television is not going quite as planned.

Google plans to rework the software for Google TV before more manufacturers bring devices to market with that programming installed, reported US media recently. That's after critics savaged the first take of the system.

Google TV is designed to operate on special televisions or set-top boxes. Japanese company Sony and Swiss computer peripherals manufacturer Logitech are already using the technology.

The goal of Google TV is to meld television and the Internet. Viewers would be able to access Google's Chrome browser directly from their television. Hundreds of TV channels would similarly be accessible and searchable on TVs and online.

At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January, companies like Toshiba, LG and Sharp were prepared to present the first devices with the Google TV option. But Google has now asked them to hold off while it reworks the programme, reported the New York Times and Wall Street Journal.

It's not the first setback for Google TV. Media companies have not been willing to allow their content to be used by the system, since they fear it could hurt standard, ad-based broadcasting, as has already been the case with online libraries like Netflix or Hulu, which offer both movies and television series.
